My name is Parween. I am 17 years old and a Form Four student at Sekolah Menengah Islam Ad-diniah in Penang.
I live with my parents and 2 other siblings at Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor Darul Ehsan. Being a Rohingya refugees, it is almost impossible for my father to acquire a decent job to support the family. Life is getting difficult each day as he is the sole breadwinner in family.
Last month, my father got a severe stroke attack and to add salt to an open wound, he can no longer go out to work. My mother and brothers have no choice but to take over, striving to assure that our family somehow makes ends meet.
Rental, utilities, food, hospital bills are the things that haunt us every month. Not a single day goes by without us having to worry about what we will do for the next day. My mother washes dishes at a restaurant while my brother works as a helper at a small grocery store. I dream to have a better future for me, my family and all Rohingya refugee like me. I like going to school and I want to study. I hope someday I can achieve my dream to become a doctor to help people, to give and not to be a receiver anymore.
